Background
Third World Craft Development Center (TWCDC ) was founded in 2004 to provide a platform for young men and women who wish to learn skills on eCommerce specifically to run handicrafts business. It runs several training that focuses on e-marketing of handicrafts and agro products. It currently provides services of web design and hosting and counseling on micro enterprises development. The founder and Development director of the TWCDC, Mr. Surendra Shahi has spent more than two decade in handicraft market development, promotion of fair trade and adult learning related with micro enterprises development.
The center is currently housed with highly skilled designer, programmers and motivated staff to provide services to Nepalese artisans and global SMEs. It currently supports about 80 groups of handicrafts and agro based producers in Nepal finding market for their wares. It also offers to about 50 global SMEs clients in hosting their website , design service and counseling. It currently partners with PEOPlink/OpenEntry to run its suport office in Nepal providing support serivce to global SMEs like world chambers, Federation of Handicraft Associations and global fair trade organizations.
It is registered at Kathmandu District Administration Office . It is also a founder member of Artisan Fair Trade Network Nepal (AFTAN) as a networking body representing artisans and entreprenuers to collaborate and extend cooperation for mutually beneficial programs. TWCDC through its handicrafts marketing wings Third World Craft Nepal is a member of Fair Trade Federation , USA, Green America, USA, Federation of Handicraft Association, Nepal. TWCDC participate regularly in several gifts shows in Europe, USA, Canada, Korea and it conintues to feature artisan's products through various exhibitions and gifts shows, online marketplace and participating to local melas to promote its products.
TWCDC is soon starting their own production unit to streamline the production of specialized handicrafts items.
